Find out why 100K+ engineers read The Code twice a week

Staying behind on tech trends can be a career killer.

But let’s face it, no one has hours to spare every week trying to stay updated.

That’s why over 100,000 engineers at companies like Google, Meta, and Apple read The Code twice a week.

Here’s why it works:

  • No fluff, just signal – Learn the most important tech news delivered in just two short emails.

  • Supercharge your skills – Get access to top research papers and resources that give you an edge in the industry.

  • See the future first – Discover what’s next before it hits the mainstream, so you can lead, not follow.

Happy Thursday folks!

Here is my favorite passage of the week, two quotes and book of the week with two important lessons to ponder on:

Passage of the Week:

Author Shane Parrish on thought experiment:

From General Thinking Concepts Mental Models by Shane Parrish

Two Quotes:

“For him who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for one who has failed to do so, his mind will remain the greatest enemy.”

― Bhagavad Gita

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”

― Socrates

Book of the Week with 2 Important Lessons:

Inspiring and calming. An essential companion to the inspirational classic, The Alchemist. It is a collection of timeless stories and parables of self-reflection, faith, and rediscovery. A great read that will help you put your life into perspective.

As Paulo Coelho explains, “Maktub is not a book of advice but an exchange of experiences.” Each story offers an illuminated path to see life and the lives of our fellow people around the world in new ways, allowing us to tap into universal truths about our collective and individual humanity. The lessons and experiences from this book will help you to take the first step towards a better life.

Here are two important lessons from the book:

1) The Word is Power:

Write. Whether it's a letter or a diary or a few jottings as you talk on the phone, just write. Writing brings us closer to God and to our fellow humans.

If you want to have a better understanding of your role in the world, write. Try to put your whole soul into writing, even if no one else will ever read it or, worse, even if someone does end up reading something you didn't want them to read. The mere fact of writing helps us to organize our thoughts and to see the world around us more clearly. A piece of paper and a pen can perform miracles assuage sorrows, make dreams reality, take away and restore lost hopes. The word is power.

2) Face Your Journey with Courage:

If you are following the path of your dreams, then commit yourself to it fully. Don't leave the exit door open with the excuse “No, this isn't quite what I wanted.” Those words contain the seed of defeat.

Embrace your chosen path, even if you do occasionally stumble, even if you know you could do better. If you accept what you are capable of doing now, in the present, you will be sure to improve in the future, but if you deny your limitations, you will never be free of them. Face your journey with courage. Don't be afraid of other people's criticisms. Above all, don't let yourself be paralyzed by your own self-criticism.

Book I am currently reading:

Katabasis by R. F. Kuang. Dante’s Inferno meets Susanna Clarke’s Piranesi in this all-new dark academia fantasy from R. F. Kuang, in which two graduate students must put aside their rivalry and journey to Hell to save their professor’s soul, perhaps at the cost of their own.

READING TIP: Question Whether the Book is Worth Reading

We often consume a lot of things out of habit, without questioning their worth, books included.

Never feel obligated to finish a book that doesn’t interest you. There are many great books out there to read. Read what you are interested in, or ignite your curiosity, or help develop the skills you want to cultivate.

Thank you for reading and all your support.

I am excited to keep bringing you the new and old books, great insights, and lessons.

Until next week, stay curious and happy reading!
